Ο Αμερικανός γερουσιαστή Ρικ Σκοτ επιπλήττει τον Ταγίπ Ενρτογάν κατά την επίσκεψή του στην Κύπρο, αναφερόμενος στην τουρκική εισβολή από τη νεκρή ζώνη στη Λευκωσία.
Ο Ρικ Άσκοτ όντας μέλος της Επιτροπής Εξωτερικών Σχέσεων της Γερουσίας των ΗΠΑ, επέρριψε ευθύνες στην Τουρκία για το Κυπριακό καθώς και στον πρόεδρό της Ερντογάν, υποστηρίζοντας ότι η κατάσταση που επικρατεί αυτή τη στιγμή αποτελεί παραβίαση της κυριαρχίας της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας.
Παράλληλα, αναφέρθηκε στην εισβολή και την παραβίαση της κυριαρχίας της Κύπρου, εκφράζοντας και τον προβληματισμό του αναφορικά με τη στάση της Τουρκίας ως μέλους του ΝΑΤΟ, αφού - όπως τόνισε- δεν ενεργεί με τρόπο που να ανταποκρίνεται στη συμπεριφορά ενός συμμάχου των ΗΠΑ.
Τέλος, αναφέρθηκε και στις πολύ καλές σχέσεις που έχει η Κύπρος με το Ισραήλ και τις ΗΠΑ.

He also discussed the importance of both nations’ relationships with Israel and support for the United States in the ongoing war with Iran. It’s great to see a US Senator push back on Muslim Brotherhood thug Erdogan. Turkey shouldn’t even be allowed to be in NATO, and Turkey should NEVER be allowed to acquire F-35 fighter jets. Luckily, Senator Scott understands the threat Turkey and Erdogan’s jihadist ideology poses to the world.
